The young woman at the reservation desk who greeted us was lovely and helpful. Her suggestions for the day and where to have lunch in Arona were most enjoyable. In the evening, a gentleman at the desk directed us to a restaurant nearer the hotel for dinner, not near the lake. Our fault for not being specific. Grand Hotel des Lles Borromees is a wonderfully elegant hotel set lakeside with beautiful grounds and gardens. My wife and I extended our stay from 3 to 5 nights - expensive, but well worth it. My wife and I first visited Grand Hotel Dino several years ago on a tour, and the beautiful images remained with us. We decided to return this July and it was everything we remembered and much more. We stayed at the Astroria 5 years ago and likes it so much we came back. The hotel has old school charm while providing fantastic service. The staff are wonderful. The hotel has a beautiful view of the lake and it is a 5 minute walk to the hiatpric center, where you can find restaurants and shops. It is also a perfect place to take day trips. It is an easy 1.5 hours drive.
