Innenstadt
Linz's Innenstadt blends medieval magic with futuristic flair right along the Danube. The cobblestone streets lead to Austria's largest town square where baroque facades frame the twin-towered Old Cathedral. Art lovers bounce between the glass-walled Lentos Art Museum and the LED-lit Ars Electronica Center without breaking a sweat. The neighborhood serves up traditional schnitzel and linzer torte in cozy gasthauses alongside modern bistros. Getting around is a breeze with excellent tram connections and extensive pedestrian zones that make exploring on foot a joy. Boutique hotels in converted baroque buildings offer the perfect home base for your adventures.

The futuristic Ars Electronica Center glows beside the glass-fronted Lentos Art Museum, creating a perfect time-travel experience along the Danube. Traditional Austrian gasthauses and modern bistros dot the pedestrian-friendly center. Most attractions are within the car-free zone, making it easy to explore on foot. Trams connect major sites, and the peaceful Danube promenades offer perfect spots for catching your breath between museum visits.

DORMERO DeHo Linz
"Very nice, 30 mins walk into the old town, quiet rooms on the back, no traffic noise at all. Room very modern and clean, water very hot in the shower, great after a day’s sightseeing. Would recommend and stay here again if the opportunity arises"
arte Hotel Linz
"Helpful staff, clean, good breakfast.. However in my room the safe was broken and did not work and TV was hanging at precarious angle due to a bent bracket. Liked the small balcony and convenient location close to Rudolfstrasse tram stop, decent breakfast."
Leonardo Boutique Hotel Linz City Center
"The Leonardo Boutique Hotel is situated in a perfect location just a few minutes walk from Hauptplatz in the Alstadt, Landstraße, the pick up point for the sightseeing train and Pöstlingbergbahn, Buy a combo ticket and take in a Danube cruise too! There are bars and restaurants on Hauptplatz as well as bakeries where you can purchase freshly made sandwiches and cakes. Don’t forget to try the Linzertorte at Jendrak! For those of a futuristic mindset, the Ars Electronika museum is a must. The residents of Linz are lovely people, as are the staff at the hotel. Rooms at the Leonardo are very comfortable, and provide everything you need for a short stay. If you prefer a cup of tea in the morning instead of the coffee machine, you can obtain a kettle at reception. Transfers to and from the airport are around £23 in an Uber. Bus 601 from the airport to Linz main railway station is about €5 pp but the bus only runs every hour. I would highly recommend Linz for an enjoyable city break. NB. We travelled on 24th August for five days. The weather was glorious - 30 degrees during the day and balmy in the evening."
