Torrey and related destinations
Tiny Torrey serves as the perfect basecamp for exploring Capitol Reef National Park's magnificent red rock formations and hidden canyons. After hiking among ancient petroglyphs and pioneer orchards in Fruita, refuel at Slacker's Burger Joint where locals swap trail recommendations. The night skies here rank among America's darkest – bring a blanket to witness stars seemingly close enough to touch. Dixie National Forest offers pine-scented respite from desert heat, while Goosenecks Overlook rewards minimal effort with maximum views. Don't miss the homemade pies at Gifford Homestead, baked from fruit grown in the same historic orchards planted by settlers. Behunin Cabin provides a humbling glimpse into pioneer life amid this harsh but beautiful landscape.

Motel Torrey
"I thought is was a bit over priced, when you compare it to other Hotels. It is a room with a tub and shower, refrigerator, microwave. There was ice machine but that was it, like I said a basic room, beds were comfortable it was kept up."
Austin's Chuckwagon Lodge
"This place was so wonderful! An oasis in the middle of nowhere and perfect for exploring Capitol Reef National Park. The grounds are tranquil and peaceful. The store is super convenient and well stocked. Truly felt like home. Do know, there is only minimal utensils in the kitchen and no stove or oven, just a microwave. The only thing I would add is a toaster oven instead of a toaster, or an induction hot plate. Otherwise it was perfect!"
