Downtown
Downtown Ann Arbor hums with college-town energy where historic charm meets modern buzz. The iconic Michigan Theater's marquee lights up streets lined with bookshops, cafes, and art galleries. Students and visitors alike explore the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and Kempf House Museum before wandering through campus pathways or catching performances at Hill Auditorium. The area boasts student-friendly dining with everything from famous Zingerman's sandwiches to ethnic eateries reflecting the university's diverse population. Most attractions sit within easy walking distance, while TheRide bus system connects you to anywhere you can't reach on foot. Boutique hotels and B&Bs provide cozy places to crash after soaking up all that collegiate atmosphere.

Kerrytown
Kerrytown buzzes around the iconic Ann Arbor Farmers Market, where Saturday mornings draw locals hunting for Michigan apples and artisanal breads. Historic brick buildings house eclectic shops selling everything from vintage finds to handcrafted jewelry. Independent bookstores and specialty food shops line the charming streets, while the nearby Ann Arbor Hands On Museum offers interactive fun. Farm-to-table restaurants showcase Michigan ingredients, with casual cafes serving lunch and upscale spots offering dinner. The district is highly walkable with bus routes connecting to downtown Ann Arbor. Most attractions sit within a two-block radius, making exploration a breeze even without a car.

South University
South University buzzes with collegiate energy right at the University of Michigan's doorstep. Students and visitors flock to the area's cultural gems like the Exhibit Museum of Natural History and University of Michigan Museum of Art. The Diag's brick pathways lead to vintage storefronts where street musicians perform, creating a lively backdrop for your campus adventures. Fuel up at student-friendly eateries serving everything from late-night pizza to ethnic cuisine. Getting around is a breeze with excellent walkability and campus shuttles at your disposal. Most shops and restaurants stay open late during the academic year, perfectly matching the neighborhood's energetic, social vibe.

Old West Side
The Old West Side is Ann Arbor's time machine, where Victorian and Queen Anne homes stand proud along tree-canopied streets. This charming historic district lets you stroll past ornate woodwork and wraparound porches that earned it a spot on the National Register. Art lovers can explore the Ann Arbor Art Center, while history buffs will appreciate the Kempf House Museum just minutes away. Within walking distance, you'll find Kerrytown's farmers market and specialty shops in converted 19th-century buildings. Though dining options are sparse in the residential core, downtown's diverse restaurant scene is just a 10-15 minute walk away. The neighborhood's excellent sidewalks and peaceful atmosphere make exploring on foot a delight.

Burns Park
Burns Park combines leafy streets with historic charm, offering an authentic slice of Ann Arbor away from the tourist trail. Tennis courts and playgrounds dot the namesake park where locals jog beneath mature oaks and maples. The nearby University of Michigan campus puts cultural attractions like the Museum of Art and Natural History Museum within easy reach. Getting around requires some planning since public transit is limited in this residential haven. Most visitors rely on walking the quiet streets or driving to downtown spots. Accommodation options focus on cozy bed-and-breakfasts and home rentals that showcase the neighborhood's Colonial Revival and Craftsman architecture.

Ann Arbor and related destinations
Between Gothic spires of the University of Michigan campus and tree-lined streets, Ann Arbor cultivates a perfect college-town vibe with grown-up sensibilities. Football Saturdays transform 'The Big House' into the state's third-largest city, while year-round, Main Street's independent bookshops and sidewalk cafés buzz with conversations both scholarly and scandalous. The Hands-On Museum makes science delightful for even the most screen-addicted kids. Kempf House Museum and Cobblestone Farm offer glimpses into the past, while the University's Museum of Art houses treasures that would make larger cities jealous. In summer, follow locals to the Huron River, where kayakers navigate gentle currents past banks lined with readers absorbed in novels purchased downtown.

The Kensington Hotel
"Perfect for my son and I as we were traveling. Very nicely remodeled room. Exceedingly comfortable beds. Wonderful pool, hot tub & sauna. Great breakfast “quick grabs” & a full breakfast for a few in the restaurant if you were interested. Courtyard was great for relax & staff was enthusiastic, helpful & welcoming. Close & easy to the interstate."

Bell Tower Hotel
"We had a nice stay at the Belltower. It was nice to have breakfast included, but the staff at breakfast seemed stressed out and busy. Front desk and valet staff were very approachable and willing to assist. Tough because the elevator from reception is up several stairs so luggage has to be hand carried up the stairs. Ask about this if you need accessible lift to get up the stairs. Room was ok, no fridge or microwave but coffee maker was there. Bathroom modern and relatively spacious, functional. Cannot beat the location. Valet does on-site parking and was available for $30 a night when we were here. Bedside stands and lamps did not have charging ports, make sure to bring a brick or charger, there was no outlet accessible anywhere near the side of the bed I was on. Location is unbeatable downtown Ann Arbor/central campus. Not easily walkable to football/basketball Stadiums if that is a part of your trip. Walkable to Main Street restaurants area be sure to bundle up and wear shoes to walk in."
Sonesta Simply Suites Detroit Ann Arbor
"Staff is very nice. Property is well maintained and clean, they just renovated, I would love if they had a pool but everything else about this place is excellent. I have stayed before and will stay again. Full kitchen"
DoubleTree by Hilton Ann Arbor North
"Hotel and room were clean. The pump soap in the shower was out, and the toilet ran for over 5 minutes before shutting off. The buffet breakfast was good, but a bit expensive."
