Learn more about Ashtabula
Discover America's longest covered bridge spanning the Ashtabula River, where 19th-century architecture frames the revitalized Harbor District. At Walnut Beach Park, Lake Erie stretches to the horizon while families picnic on golden sand. The Maritime Museum reveals tales of shipwrecks and rum-runners that once plied these waters. History buffs can explore the city's proud role in the Underground Railroad, when freedom seekers found passage to Canada across the lake. Finnish heritage permeates local culture, celebrated in museums and festivals throughout the year. In autumn, covered bridge tours showcase the rural countryside's fiery colors. Don't miss the Harbor's fish restaurants, where locals debate which serves the freshest perch sandwiches.

The Ours at Geneva on the Lake
"Surprised by the little town in the lake. Pleasant stay"
Riverbend Hotel and Suites, Trademark Collection by Wyndham
"We stayed there three nights and were so glad we booked at this hotel. We’ve had experiences with other hotels when traveling and were disappointed in the overall experience. However, Riverbend was great, especially the checking in process, room cleanliness, coffee in room, rooftop bar, great views and everything was exactly as we would hope for, definitely recommend it to others. Location is great for coffee shops and cafes. Enjoyed all aspects of our stay."
The Lodge at Geneva-on-the-Lake
"We had a great time staying at The Lodge at Geneva on the Lake. What a beautiful place! Very comfortable and clean rooms. The staff were wonderful. Simply beautiful and relaxing with terrific views of Lake Erie. We will be back!!"
Hampton Inn Ashtabula
"I gave the hotel 5 stars because everything was amazing! I live in Florida and came to Ohio to be with my son, who is autistic and recently was diagnosed with IgA nephropathy stage 5. He was going to begin the process of getting a donor kidney. He is 33 and I also had his autistic brother, who is 19, with me. Mercedes happened to be the desk clerk when I checked in. There was a mishap with my check in dates and Mercedes handled it professionally. Because I was from out of town I wanted to have a place to hang with my kids and 3 grandkids and the pool was perfect! The kids were really loud and I was worried they were disturbing the lobby area. I apologized to Mercedes for them being loud and she said they couldn’t hear it with the double sets of doors. She gave the kids snacks and told me not to worry about the messes they made. She went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. The hotel was extremely clean and I had no issues with anything, which is typically not true with a hotel stay. She gave us a room that was away from other rooms, which was good because my boys can be loud. The boys loved the hot breakfast and so did I! I really had no complaints! I will make this my regular stay when I come to visit my kids. ❤️ it was a bit pricier than the other hotels by it, but it was definitely worth the extra money for an uncomplicated stay!!"
