"Nice hotel in Village area approx 6 miles south of Grand Canyon. Close to several restaurants we were appalled that they extorted $25 from us if we wanted to check into our room before 4 pm.
I travel a huge amount both domestically and in foreign countries, but I have never had any hotel demand that I pay them an exorbitant upcharge in order to check into my room sometime after 2 pm but before 4 pm. I told the registration clerk this and she said that it was a common practice. I then asked how many hotels were in this company's chain, and she responded "just this one,". I forked over the extra $25 after paying the very high room price, but I said I was paying under duress.
By 4 pm that afternoon, they had a huge line of customers waiting to try to check in. Stupid requirement!"
"I loved the location. I wish we would have had a balcony to sit outside and enjoy the trees and stars. Some rooms had outdoor seating but ours did not."
