Really nice Ryokan / Onsen to stay at while visiting the Unesco site in Shirakawa. It was good to experience the huge dinner meal that they do at the resort once, but for our family the size of the meals were too much and we wouldn't do breakfast and dinner each day again if you stay multiple nights.
The Onsen is top notch. used it three times a day. wonderful experience.
An absolutely magical experience, Yatusankan blew me away with the level of service and the beauty of the property. It was like staying in a museum--my wide and i remarked several times how much it felt like being inside the movie Spirited Away. Staying here was a special highlight of our trip and I hope to come back

We really enjoyed our stay at this Ryokan. I was pleasantly surprised at how calming and soothing it was. We used the public bath which was incredible. Our view outside our place was gorgeous mountains overlooking parts of the town. There was a slight odor in the bathroom of musk but it didn’t affect us too much. Everything else was very clean. Beds were comfortable. They offered free shuttles to the bus stations which we were overjoyed to have since the local transit system is sometimes...
This ryokan was so wonderful. The staff is very nice and welcoming. It is a very short walk to Hida historical village.

Super clean and cozy place. They were great but Expedia wasn’t with this one. I thought I was getting single Japanese style room with share bathroom. I arrived and found out I’m in mix dormitory. Picture shows you single room and information was single room with share bathroom until I arrived there. I don’t think junk it had anything to do with the place. They were all great. Again, super clean. Thank you
The hosts are so very kind, welcoming and accomodating. They maintain the authentic experience of using a traditional family style inn from years past. Just be aware that bathrooms are communal, but have a nice onsen style aesthetic :)
We ended up staying here for two days because of the typhoon. the staff was very friendly and they let us into our rooms early because we were all sitting around the waiting room waiting to get checked in. like most Japanese hotels there was no coffee available before breakfast so we had to walk across the street to 7-Eleven to get coffee. Public bath was fantastic. Breakfast was adequate. Internet was acceptable.
