"We booked this trip after 2 difficult years of illness and work stress and we were looking for a relaxing and quiet place to go and unwind and enjoy nature. We dreamt of days and nights on the porch listening to the birds and watching the animals by the water hole but instead our entire trip was ruined by building works. We felt like we were right in the middle of a building site and all we could hear the entire trip was hammering, drilling, machinery and workmen so there was no chance of any relaxation and the building works scared away any animals that might have come to drink at the watering hole. The bathroom was also filthy on arrival - the toilet and sink had not been cleaned before our stay. We complained to management and nothing was done. We booked this trip in January and stayed in August so the lodge had plenty of time to inform us before our stay that there were building works happening during our trip and they didn't. "
"We loved our stay at Mongena. Our 4 year old daughter loved having zebras and impalas walking around the lodge. The game drives were amazing, the guides were knowledgeable and very friendly.

"Good evening....we left yesterday afternoon due to the following:
I contacted the owner to complaine about the fact that there was no restuarant as advertised to be advised that it is operated as a self-catering unit. This info does not appear on the ad.
If this cottage was operated as a self-catering establishment...what utensiles were available to prepare food?
There was non...not a pot, frying pan...nothing! Not even a container/basin to wash cutlery, mugs, pots or drying cloths etc.
The aircon is not working...we had to move the bed from underneath the aircon to avoid the water collecting on the bed.
The fan did not work properly.
We were misled in terms of the ad stating a restaurant.
The restaurant is in disrepair and have not being in use since taken over by the exisiting owner.
The bad state of the road without prior notification got us stuck and we were towed by locals with a tractor.
We were stranded without food. We did not bring any food because there is a restaurant!
The entire place is in a state of disrepair and your ad is totally misleading.
The mattress was worn down and very uncomfortable and unhealthy to sleep on.
The rating of 9.5 is a hoax
The ad has not being updated by the new owner. It reflects the place as was with the origanal owners.
If you start asking questions around...the truth will reveal itself!"
