"Grand Hotel Sofia is centrally located within walking distance of many interesting attractions such as historic churches, museums, and theaters, as well as the excavated ruins of Roman Serdica, the ancient settlement below the streets of Sophia. The hotel is situated overlooking a beautiful park and the area is very clean & safe, containing many of the Bulgarian ministry buildings nearby. The rooms were big and comfortable, the restaurant, including the breakfast was top notch. The hotel has a cool 80’s retro feel about it, for example the nice wood paneling throughout the halls and fully-tiled green marble bathrooms. I’m unable to compare to other hotels in Sofia but I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for accommodations in Sofia. The price to value ratio was reasonable, in my opinion."
"Helpful staff, spacious room, and great location. Only negatives are the house keepers only gave 1 hand towel even though 2 guests stay in our room, and the toilet paper was not replenished. So we had to request the towel snd toilet paper every day which was inconvenient. Also no heater if not winter season even though it’s 50’s outside, but the hotel provided us the portable heater."
"My room was spacious with everything I needed including comfortable bed, and opening windows, though it was slightly rundown. Meets 4.5 star by Western standards.
This is a big hotel and casino complex with indoor pool, spa treatments, steam rooms and the lot, and at a much, much cheaper rate than I expected in late spring, you get a but of all the good stuff, including pretty extensive full buffet breakfast.
I'm pretty tall and the front of house manager upgraded me on arrival, the doorman recognised me on my way back in.
You'll stay in some more luxurious places from time-to-time, I'm sure, but the value for money at this perfectly good level was hard to beat and I booked extra nights."
